#WoodWeek - 2m26 Kyoto House
“The Japanese are a forest civilisation. Their culture, philosophy and religion are carved out of the forests that blanket the country – not to mention all manner of everyday things, from houses and shrines to walking sticks and spoons.” – Dr. Qing Li, Shinrin-Yoku*
Day 6 – Kyoto House, Kyoto, Japan

#WoodWeek - The Barn House
In Australia, there is a figurative local expression “to have the wood on” meaning to have an advantage over someone, to be able to deliver them a knockout blow, or to stun them. This project is, for sure, taking advantage of living a modern countryside life, 25 minutes away from Brisbane.
Day 5 – The Barn House, Pullenvale, Australia

#WoodWeek - Yishan Pinnacle Flagship Store
A Chinese proverb says: “A closed mind is like a closed book; just a block of wood.” To open the minds, a new cultural and creative store not only culture and coffee but also wood and concrete inserted in a contemporary looking grid space concept.
Day 4– Yishan Pinnacle Flagship Store, Shenzhen, China.

#WoodWeek - JapoNeza Retreat
In Mexico, there is a saying: “El que a buen árbol se arrima, buena sombra le acobija.” (He who gets close to a good tree will find a nice shade for shelter)… This wooden retreat is definitely made for that.
Day 3 – JapoNeza Retreat, Atlangatepec, Tlaxcala, Mexico

#WoodWeek - Rigot Collective Dwelling Centre
“The best carpenters make the fewest chips.” Maybe the wisdom of the English proverb has inspired this project in Geneva. Make the most effective solution to an urgent need for temporary accommodation for migrants.
Day 2: Rigot Collective Dwelling Centre, Geneva, Switzerland

#BrickWeek 1 - Entre Pinos
After Asia, we are off to the Americas, where bricks are also used very often. Here is a project rewarded in 2018 by AZ Awards in the category Best in Architecture—Residential Single Family Residential Interiors.
Season One, Episode Four: Mexico.

#LifeAfterLockdown – Berghaus Zallinger
For the last post of our series, we mix everything… The location is Italian but people speak German, the mountains are stunning in the winter but remain an endless field for Summer activities too… And the interior combines here as well traditional wood structures with contemporary flavours…
Episode Eight: Berghaus Zallinger, Italy.

White Flower Arbour
On the occasion of a world festival in 2019, the Maezawa Garden House added a discreet arbour merging into the woods.
